Why can't Algeria take Mohamed VI's statements seriously? Morocco needs an enemy to ensure the survival of the Makhzen.
On the occasion of the 23rd anniversary of his accession to the throne, the King of Morocco has graced us with a new tragicomic speech, where he reaches out to Algeria. A speech that recalls the speech of last year on the same occasion.
The speeches of Mohamed VI follow one another and are similar, we can note good intentions in the speech, but the facts are systematically orthogonal to the pious wishes expressed in these speeches. In reality, no one is fooled in Algeria, we know that these speeches are not serious, it is to make Morocco look like a victim who is ready to negotiate with Algeria and maintain at the same time the same aggressive and unfriendly position towards Algeria.
We know that Morocco needs to continue to make its people believe that Algeria is the enemy, our country serves as a safety valve for the Makhzen regime: when Morocco is in crisis, the regime systematically turns its eyes to Algeria, waving the threat of imminent aggression of our country against Morocco or allegedly aiming at Western Sahara
The reasons that led Algeria to break off relations are known to all. If the Moroccans want to improve relations with Algeria, they know precisely what they must do. The injunctions given to Algeria through the Speech from the Throne is an unacceptable process in form and is counterproductive because it reinforces the divisions and divergences.
Algeria has understood since the advent of Abdelmadjid Tebboune, that reconciliation with the Makhzen regime is impossible. It is up to the Moroccan people to regain their dignity by bringing down the medieval Makhzen regime which has enslaved a whole people.
